easy to find, hard to leave

Charlet is approx 28 km south west of Limoges and the A20 Paris-Toulouse autoroute.

Leave the A20 at junction 33, direction Perigueux/Aixe-sur-Vienne, on the N21. Head to Sereilhac and take the D34 to St Laurent.

Limoges is about a day's drive from the channel ports. Driving can be undertaken by motorway from Calais or Boulogne to Limoges.

Limoges has an airport with direct daily flights from London Stansted year round.

Driving times from the UK and within France:

From Poitiers ~90 km (1h 30mn)
From Bordeaux ~160 km (2h 15mn)
From Toulouse ~330 km (4h)
From Paris ~380 km (3h 30mn)
From Calais ~700 km (7h)
From London ~850 km (11h)

By Rail

The most comfortable way to travel is probably via Eurostar from London to Lille, and from Lille to Angouleme (66mn drive/72km from saint Auvent). Hiring a car at Angouleme train station is possible and likely to be necessary unless you have other transport.

Since the TGV runs from Lille station it is much better to change there than in Paris (which would require travelling across Paris).

By Air

Flying to the region is also easy, but here there is a choice of airports.

Limoges has an airport but flights aren't direct. You can change in Paris or Clermond Ferrand. Although you do not need to hire a car (you can use taxis, although a hire car may be cheaper in the long run) the flights tend to be more expensive that at other airports.

Ryanair fly to Poitiers which is the closest airport served by a low cost airline.

Slightly further away is La Rochelle.

Further afield there are flights into Bordeaux (Ryanair flies there and probably some other low cost airlines) and Toulouse.
